The trek to the Pindari Glacier is strenuous and challenging, both for the new, as well as the experienced trekkers and provides fabulous views of the Himalayas. Song, 256 kms. away from Kathgodam, is the base for the trek to the glacier. A 47kms. trek from Song is Phurkiya 8kms. further to whichis ' Zero Point' (3657mtrs. to 4267 mtrs.), providing a spectacular view of the Pindari glacier. |
| The trek to the 7kms., North of Almora is the temple of Kasar Devi perched on the Kashyap hill. According to the Puranas, to kill Shumba and Nishumba, Devi Parvati took the form of Kaushiki and killed them. An inscription on a stone boulder says that the temple was constructed by a king named, Rudrak. Another inscription of the 6th-7th century records that a temple by the name of Rudreshwar was also constructed. The place is known for its serenity and attracts tourists from across the globe. An English woman in her book " Parmeshwar Ki Unchai" ( The height of God ) has given a visual depiction of the devi temple. The snow- capped peaks of the Himalayas offer a panoramic view from the temple premises. |
| Binsar is perched at an altitude of (2420mts.),32kms. from Almora. One has to branch off from Kathpuria. Ayarpani which lies along the Almora- Takula - Bageshwar route. jhandihar gives an unbelievably close and spectacular view of the Himalayas. This region now falls under the Binsar sanctuary. The famous trek to Jageshwar via Dholichhina is approximately 16kms. |

| 15kms. from Almora are the three important protohistoric sites, in the form of rock paintings. |
| Viewing Himalayas from Sitlakhet, 35kms. from Almora is an indefinable experience. Numerous scouting camps are often held. Some of the places in close proximity worth visiting are; Syabhi Devi temple which is just 3kms. away, Govind Ballabh Pant's birthplace and the centenary memorial at Khoot. |
