Gangolihat
Gangolihat is situated at the point where the old Pithoragarh-Almora footpath meets with the new Ghat-Bageshwar motor road . In ancient Hindu Literature Ganfolihat, which lies between the rivers Saryu and Ramganga, is referred to amidst deodar forests , the Janhavi Naula( a covered spring ) and temple complex. Twice a year in Chairtra and Ashuj on the eighth day of the Navratras, a large fair is held at the Kalika temple.The Chamunda Devi temple is just 2 km to the southwest of Gangolihat. 5 km away along Gangolihat-chhaj Pabhain is a Surya (Sun ) temple , the Sahil cave and a fascinating view of the Himalayas. The Mankeshwar tiple are the ruins of a Fort which once belonged to the Mankoti kings . 2km away is Uprana, the native village of poet'Gumani', the first Kumaoni poet, who also wrote in Hindi, Sanskrit and with great dexterity and command.
