to Kedarnath. From Gangotri one has to come down to mala by motor. The actual
trek starts from mala, after crossing the river Bhagirathi. The trek is on level
upto Sauri-Ki-Gad and from here then trek to Belak is gradual. From Belak to
Buda Kedar, it is downhill through dense forest full of birds and wild life.
From Buda Kedar to panwali, it is an uphill trek through terraced fields and
picturesque villages.The enchanting, view of the Garhwal Himalayas is very
refreshing and compensates the afforts of regular ascend and descend. The
'Bugyals' (alpine meadows) on the trek are most beatiful, specially the
Kush-Kalyan and the panwali Bugyasa Accomodation: Rest Houses and Dharamshalas are along the way. The trek should be well planned beforehand and services of a guide are advisable. |

The trek from Taluka to Osla is through dense forests of chestnuts, walnuts,
willows and chinars. The trek from Sema to Har-Ki-Doon is through terraced
mountain fields, lush green grassy land and conifer forests. Season : The rainy season, when multicoloured flowers bloom, presenting a heavenly sight. |

| For those who are interested in trekkiing and adventure, Nagtibba, at an altitude of 3048 mts. offers one of the most captivating view of the majestic Himalayas as well as Mussoorie, Doon Valley and surrounding areas. The area is full of dense fortest and natural beauty. Nagtibba is the most unspoilt wonder round the year. To reach Nagtibba, one has to come to Pantwari via Nainbagh from Mussoorie or Vikas Nagar by direct bus service. Pantwari is the base camp for visiting the place,from there, it is 8kms. trek to Nagtibba, through dense forest. There is no accomodation at Nagtibba and one has to carry tents or come back to the picturesque village of Pantwari-gay with life and presenting the culture of Jaunpur. The second route is via Thatyur, which is connected by road to Mussoorie & Chamba, and is 66kms. from Thatyur to Nagtibba is a 21kms. trek via Devalsari. Devalsari is the last place where a Forest Rest House is available for accommodation on this route. |

| The Khatling Glacier is a lateral glacier, at the source of river Bhilangna. Sahastratal and Masartal are on the west and east. The valley of Bhilangna offers a panoramic view of snow capped peaks and glaciers of Jogin group, Kirti Stambh and Meru which are sublime and magnificent. The whole trek passes through thick forests and beautiful lush green meadows. In the rainy season, the meadows burst with splendid flowers. Trekkers will have to cross scores of small streams on improvised log bridges on this route. |

| About 16kms. from Ghuttu, Panwali Kantha-Matya Bugyal are two sprawling high altitude meadows. The colourful flowers during the months of July & August present a kaleidoscopic view of the area. These are superb for trekking & skiing. There is an old Dharamshala, offering accommodation. |

| At a height of 2903 mts. situated in the interior of the district, the temple of Nag Raja at Sem Mukhem is held in high esteem by the people of the area. Transport facilities are available upto Khamba khal, a distance of 64kms. from Tehri. One has to walk for about 7kms. from the Khamba khal to reach Sem. The temple is situated at the top of a hill about 5kms. from the village Mukhem which is 2kms. from the motor head of Khamba khal. Accommodation is provided by the ' Pandas' of the village Mukhem. |

| At a height of 2903 mts. This lateral glacier situtated in Tehri district is the source of river Bhilangna. The glacier is surrounded by snow peaks of the jogin group (6466m), Sphetic Pristwar (6905m), Barte Kauter (6579m) Kirti Stambh (6902m) and Meru. The moraines on the side of the glaciers look like standing walls of gravel mud. The trek which starts from Ghuttu is easily approachable by motor from Dehradun, Tehri, Mussoorie and the Rishikesh railhead. One has to trek about 45kms. and pass through remote villages with thick Kharsao forest and wide open beautiful lush grassy meadows. The entry to the bhilangna Valley provides excellent spots for camping. Tents and adequate provisions need to be arranged in advance from Rishikesh, Tehri and Dehradun. |
